2. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by DreamHost. When you access the website, technically required server-log data may be processed, including IP address, date and time of access, requested URL, referrer, browser or user-agent data, and status information.
This processing is used to provide the website, maintain availability and security, investigate errors, and protect against abuse.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
3. Contact, support, and feedback requests
If you contact us by email or through a public contact or feedback form, we process the data you provide to handle your request and communicate with you. This may include name, company, email address, subject, message content, and any other information you choose to send.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the request relates to pre-contractual or contractual communication, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
4. Licensing, activation, deactivation, and registration requests
License files are stored locally on the user's computer. For activation, deactivation, registration, license transfer, or similar licensing or support operations, the user may submit a request through a web form, email workflow, or product-assisted process.
Such requests may include name, company, email address, license details, product or version information, machine ID or other hardware-related identifiers, and communication records needed to process the request.
Lingobit software does not automatically transmit project files, source code, translations, extracted strings, or crash reports as part of normal activation or licensing operations.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
5. Update checks
Lingobit software checks whether a newer version is available when the program starts. This check is on by default. During this process, technical request data such as IP address, request time, product or version information, and ordinary server-log data may be processed.
No project files, source code, translations, extracted strings, or crash reports are transmitted as part of a normal update check.
The update notification can be turned off in Tools > Options. To turn off the check itself, contact support.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
6. Machine translation in Lingobit Localizer
Machine translation in Lingobit Localizer is optional. It uses a provider that the user sets up with the user's own account: DeepL, Google Translate, or Microsoft Azure Translator.
When the user translates with machine translation or receives machine translation suggestions, the source text is sent from the user's computer directly to that provider. Lingobit does not receive this text. The provider processes it under its own terms and privacy policy.
Provider keys are stored on the user's computer, not in the project file and not on Lingobit servers.
7. Sales and quotation requests
If you request pricing, a quotation, invoice information, licensing information, or other sales-related information, we process the business contact and correspondence data required to prepare, document, and respond to the request.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and, where applicable, Art. 6(1)(c) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
8. Spam protection / Cloudflare Turnstile
The contact form on this website (/contact/) uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a service provided by Cloudflare, Inc., to detect and prevent abusive or automated submissions. For this purpose, Cloudflare may process technical data such as IP address, browser and device information, interaction data, and technical verification data.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Further information is available in Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
At launch, this website does not use non-essential analytics or marketing cookies.
If technically required storage, session state, or similar technologies are used, they are used only for the secure and functional operation of the website or individual forms.
10. Recipients
Personal data is disclosed only to recipients that are required for hosting, communication, form protection, support, licensing, or sales handling. Depending on the request and the systems used, this may include hosting providers, email providers, form-protection providers, and service providers involved in software delivery or support operations.
11. International transfers
Some service providers used for hosting, communication, or form protection may process personal data outside the European Union or the European Economic Area. Where this happens, processing takes place only subject to the applicable legal requirements and, where required, appropriate safeguards.
12. Retention
We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the relevant purpose, for as long as statutory retention obligations apply, or for as long as legitimate interests require documentation, security, support, licensing traceability, or contract handling.
13. Required or voluntary provision of data
Providing personal data is generally not required to browse the public website. Certain data is required if you contact us, request support, request activation, request a quote, request licensing assistance, or purchase a license, because we cannot process such requests without the necessary contact, license, or transaction information.
14. No automated decision-making
We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
15. Your rights
Subject to the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise your rights, contact support@lingobit.com.
