Import Translation Results

Choose Project > External Translation > Import Translation Results to take translations or proofreading results back into your project.

1. Type of import

  • Import single file — select the file you received.

  • Batch import (use last saved send configuration) — import the files of a batch export; Localizer finds them by the settings saved when you prepared the task.

2. File

Select the file received from the translator: a translator project (.ltp), an XLIFF file (.xlf), or a CSV file (.csv). For CSV files, Advanced sets the encoding, delimiters, and columns.

3. Languages

For a translator project or an XLIFF file, select the languages to import. A CSV file is imported into the current target language.

4. XLIFF: which translations to take

  • Standard (recommended) — takes translated, final, and approved targets and targets without a state. New, needs-translation, and rejected targets are skipped.

  • Any non-empty translation — takes every non-empty target, for tools that keep no states or mark translated text as new. Rejected targets are skipped.

  • Approved only — takes only final, signed-off, and approved targets.

The XLIFF state sets the translation status: final, signed-off, and approved become Complete; needs-review, machine translation, and same as source become For Review; translated and no state become In Process. With Any non-empty translation, new and needs-translation targets also become For Review.

5. Overwrite options

Overwrite existing translation

  • Always — received translations replace the translations in your project.

  • If status is greater — a received translation replaces yours only if its status is higher. Available for translator projects.

  • Never — only items without a translation are filled.

Import only if status is greater or equal — import only received translations with at least the selected status.

Import only strings — import text only, without the position and size of controls and other properties.

6. Finish

Select Save settings in project to use the same settings next time, and click Finish.

Review the results

The Output panel shows the operation Import Translation Results: the received languages, the number of affected items, text changes, Translation Status changes, non-text property changes, and the source words in the text changes. Applied Changes lists the changed items; open an item to compare the previous and received values. To show these items in the Navigation pane, use Filter Items in Output or the Recent Changes filter Changes from Last Translation Results Import.

Run Validate & Fix after the import.

From the command line: -receiveltp, -receivecsv, -receivexliff with -xliffaccept:standard|any|approved. See Command line interface.
