Windows Binaries Localization

Lingobit Localizer localizes Win32 and MFC applications, and Delphi and C++Builder applications, directly in the compiled files: EXE, DLL, OCX, MUI, and similar. You add the files from your build; the source code and the .rc files are not needed. Localizer creates localized copies of the files, resource-only DLLs, or multilingual files from the translations in the project.

Resources

  • Dialogs — shown in a visual editor. Move and resize controls, change the dialog font, and use the Designer menu to align controls and flip dialogs for right-to-left languages. DLGINIT strings of combo boxes and list boxes appear with their dialog.

  • Menus — the menu resource is shown in a preview with its popups. Select an item in the Translation Editor to open its popup in the preview, or click an item in the preview to select it in the table. The preview shows the resource, not items that the application adds or draws at run time.

  • String tables, accelerators, message tables, version information, and other resources, including embedded XML and HTML.

  • Bitmaps and icons — export the original, edit it, and import the translated image with Binary Data in the shortcut menu.

In version resources, the numeric FILEVERSION and PRODUCTVERSION, InternalName, OriginalFilename, and numeric FileVersion and ProductVersion strings are Read-only. Descriptive fields such as FileDescription, ProductName, and LegalCopyright are translated.

Output

Choose the type of localized files on the Win32 > MFC Output page of the properties. See Output Options. MFC applications load resource-only DLLs such as MyAppDEU.dll by themselves; the guide on the Lingobit website shows how.
